Deep Clean vs Standard Clean: Which Do You Actually Need?

"Deep clean" gets thrown around loosely, so here's the honest difference — and a one-line rule for picking: if you'd be embarrassed opening a cupboard in front of a guest, it's a deep clean.
What a standard clean includes
A standard clean is the regular reset — about 2 hours (€36) for most homes:
- Kitchen surfaces, hob and sink
- Bathroom: toilet, sink, shower/bath, mirror
- Floors hoovered and mopped
- General dusting and tidying
It keeps a home ticking over. Weekly or fortnightly standard cleans are the "never let it slide" routine.
What a deep clean adds
A deep clean — usually 3–4 hours (€54–€72) — gets everything above plus the places a quick clean never reaches:
- Inside cupboards, the fridge and the oven
- Limescale off taps, shower screens and tiles
- Skirting boards, door frames, window sills and inside windows
- Under and behind furniture that moves
When each one makes sense
- Standard: the weekly/fortnightly keep-up, before ordinary visitors, after a busy week.
- Deep: first clean in a long while, before or after guests staying over, seasonal spring clean, post-renovation dust, or when allergies flare.
